Installation procedure for x86_64 (64 bit) Fedora 17 Linux: 1. Download the following files to a temporary directory on your system: codec2-0.2.0-2.fc17.x86_64.rpm freedv-0.91-2.fc17.x86_64.rpm libctb-0.16-3.fc17.x86_64.rpm wxWidgets-2.9.4-3.fc17.x86_64.rpm 2. Enter the following commands: yum localinstall libctb-0.16-3.fc17.x86_64.rpm yum localinstall wxWidgets-2.9.4-3.fc17.x86_64.rpm yum localinstall codec2-0.2.0-2.fc17.x86_64.rpm yum localinstall freedv-0.91-2.fc17.x86_64.rpm That's it! You now should have freedv on your Fedora Linux system. Notes: A. There is no desktop icon to start freedv (yet). To run, open a terminal window and enter: freedv B. The wxWidgets-2.9 libraries install in /usr/local/lib to avoid conflict with the version that is part of Fedora 17. If, the first time freedv is executed it issues an error about not finding the libwx_ libraries, try running the following command as root: ldconfig /usr/local/lib64 The installer should do this, but just in case... C. Future updates should only require updating the codec2 or freedv rpm files. D. These rpms are for Fedora 17 Linux. They may, or may not work with Fedora 18. Fedora 18 rpms will be available soon. E. Please report any installation problems, especially missing dependancies to: n0so@arrl,net. Enjoy! Mike, N0SO
